When going overseas, exploring new cities, admiring the scenery, and immersing myself in different cultures can be an incredibly enriching experience.

When I go overseas, I'll have the opportunity to discover fascinating landmarks, try new foods, meet people from diverse backgrounds, and learn about unique customs and traditions.

Recently, I visited Japan, my first overseas trip after the pandemic! I took public transport (both bus and train) travelling to places. The nature of our mode of transportation reminds me to plan ahead, research the destination and make the most of my time abroad.

Most importantly, I learnt to embrace the adventure and be open to new experiences. This happened when I was at Kyoto.

  • I visited the wrong Kawaramachi, Kyoto. I visited the town instead of the famous Kawaramachi street.
  • Headed towards the wrong Yasaka Shrine (Correct: Yasaka Jinja Shrine). I almost went to the middle of the jungle.
  • Find my way back to Central Kyoto, missed the last bus (The bus service stopped at 3pm).
  • Ended my night at Wajoryomen Sugari, one of the famous ramen place in Kyoto.

Have you ever found yourself in an unfamiliar location, unsure of your way? I would love to hear about your experience!
