Day 2: Bali Trip [RVI Youth Program]

Selamat Pagi! It's the second day of the RVI Youth Program, and it has been a jam-packed day filled with various activities. Allow me to recount my experiences.

To kick off the day, we visited the Ragam Foundation, a local community dedicated to supporting individuals by providing daily meals through the Bagi Bagi Nasi Community Kitchen.

Although cooking has never been my forte, I recognize its value as a useful skill. This morning, instead of merely acquiring another skill, I had the chance to contribute to the community by preparing ingredients for meals to be cooked and shared with those in need.

This turned out to be more than just a skill-building exercise; it became an opportunity to give back to the community. I now perceive this activity not just as a means of acquiring a skill set, but as a meaningful contribution that aligns with the purpose of my participation in this program.

Following that, we participated in two workshops: "Discover Yourself" and a "Self-Development" workshop. These sessions provided me with an opportunity to self-reflect on my goals and mark down the wants and needs in both my personal and professional life. The process of documenting these reflections felt like a profound journey, bringing a sense of authenticity and truthfulness to my self-assessment.

Lastly, we engaged in the "Five Pillars Experience" and an "Industry Panel Dialogue" session. While my educational background primarily revolves around facilities, events, sciences, and technology, this session broadened my perspective on socio-entrepreneurship. Through critical thinking and teamwork, we formulated a social impact project based on our assigned roles. For me, this session wasn't just about accolades but about building connections with fellow Singapore delegates. Collaborating with them to pitch a project was a valuable experience.

Reflecting on the session, I realized I could have communicated my team's actions more effectively, missing out on some key points that would have enhanced the cohort's understanding of our project. My key takeaway was the importance of eliminating uncertainties and being fully present with the team.

Learning to be a socio-entrepreneur goes beyond philanthropy; it involves ensuring the business's long-term sustainability, forward-thinking, and forecasting for the company's future. It also entails providing support to the team during challenging times.
