Workshop Facilitation

It marked my inaugural experience as a 12-day workshop facilitator, and truthfully, I felt a bit anxious. Adding to the challenge, I was participating in the ITE Alumni Dialogue, sharing my journey with my fellow ITE students.

I found myself pondering how my background in science at College East could benefit students from diverse faculties. Coming from a different academic background, I initially doubted my ability to support them. Furthermore, this occasion required me to step into the realm of public speaking, an area I had long wanted to improve upon.

To my surprise, my preconceptions were proven wrong. As I engaged in these workshops and shared my experiences, I rediscovered a sense of connection to my days as an ITE student. Memories of the challenges I faced, the myriad responsibilities I juggled, and the progress I've made flooded back.

For instance, balancing both work and study concurrently to make ends meet, encountered challenges as an ITE student, with limited support and the added pressure of former friends judging me.

I shared this aspect of my journey with close friends that I had the opportunity to recount my time as an ITE student. Their appreciation for my openness about my struggles and growth was heartening. They expressed gratitude for my willingness to share a part of my life that they took pride in.

I vividly recall their words, "It was a journey you had to go through to become who you are today." This realization transformed my sharing from a mere expression of pride in being an ITE student to a pivotal moment of personal growth.

In conclusion, serving as a workshop facilitator proved to be more than simply assisting and supporting ITE students; it became a reflection on my own journey, the distance and the effort invested to be who am I today.
