What did I learn today?

  • Visiting HFSE was very emotional for me. I missed being a student - a SCHOOL student. A student without the worries of tomorrow. A student without the worries of adulthood. A student without the worries of uncertainties. As someone who studied abroad in an international school for about 2 years, visiting HFSE brought me back a lot of memories. It showed me how I took for granted some things in that part of my life and how I didn’t value what I had. I was yearning for something I didn’t have - wanting to come back to Malaysia (regretted a whole lot after), but I wish I enjoyed my life that time with what I had instead. I think if there’s a time portal, I’d want to go back just simply to enjoy the exact moments a bit more with lots of love and enthusiasm instead of wishing for something else. Visiting HFSE and talking to the founders also showed sometimes, when you don’t have the opportunity, you can create it instead and often times it may be the best thing not just for you, but also for the people around you. I hope someday I get to create that change and just go for it after putting some thoughts to it instead of doubting myself.
  • In City Sprout, I learnt how sometimes people take for granted the nature and surroundings around us in the name of development and then try to fix it through people who want to make changes from advocacy. I’m glad the space is inclusive for different people but it’s somewhat sad that the actions taken by City Sprouts had to arise from ignorance of leaders. I also really enjoyed seeing the plants and animals there - somewhat helped me declutter my brain that was saturated from yesterday. I also enjoyed doing the art for the gift box as it helped me to calm my thoughts.
  • As for the Climate Change slot, I enjoyed it, but honestly as my energy level was really depleting and I didn’t want to take a timeout and still wanted to be sort of involved in the conversation, I just joined. And I learnt through it “roles” I practice in the things I do and the roles I wish to have.
