Day 6 Reflection

"Creating a Impactful Business" Panel Dialogue with Hermit (MPH Bali) and Nopi (Laundry)

Today we had a session with Hermit and Nopi, after hearing from them I learned alot of insights about creating a impactful business. I felt that towards creating a startup, i had always thought that impactful-ness to the business usually means profit or even metrics showing real life results.

One of the insights that I took away from this session after learning from Hermit and Nopi about their businesses and how they started it. I feel that I learned alot from both of them:

1. Hermit: One thing I found really insightful was that even though he is still a non profit organization, creating a social impact. I asked a question regarding how he personally defined impactfulness in the business. I learned that for him he talked about despite being a non profit organization, as a business he mentioned 3 things
   1. Profit
   2. People
   3. Planet

Personally, I found this quite insightful because I always felt that being a non profit organization means priortizing people first rather than profit which would come last. However he mentioned that his business has to keep in mind profit because at the end of the day it is stilll business and it keeps the business running and help the people and the planet.

Nopi:

For his laundry business, I feel that I was inspired when he talked about the reason and his why for starting this business through the tough season of covid-19 to support his family and friends with jobs.

Which helped me to reframe my thinking of my why towards my startup idea, I also learned about having the willingness to take risks and learn despite challenges faced. Lastly, I learned about sustainability of the business means having a long term growth, not thinking just about short term wise.

Group Pitch Discussion

After the panel dialogue, we proceeded to discuss about our group idea and our pitch presentation where we came up with different ideas and to come up with a common ground together for the big day.

Shopping Mall & Beach

Afterwards, we went to the beach to take a stroll and unwind ourselves as we took a walk and also we went to the shopping mall nearby to get food and walk around and overall it was a really nice experience!
