Adventures in video editing!

New video format who dis? 😫

Ah, finally a video where I'm not sandwiched between my curtains and a camera, rambling to myself. Congratulations, self.

My youtube channel (have you liked, shared, subscribed yet? :P) is officially one year old! Honestly I can't believe it's been that long, this past year has really flown by.

The learning curve has been steep and yet I still find myself at the bottom of the mountain.

I came into this with no knowledge of video editing whatsoever and told myself I'll just take it easy and learn along the way since I'm just doing this for fun mostly - to mark my transition progress and remember the good times.

Alas... I am not sure how much I've learnt in the past one year, really.

At my ambitious beginnings I told myself I'd post once a week but I soon realised that video making is worlds apart from my usual mediums (writing, comics, illustration) - in that my usual modus operandi of chionging (Singlish for rushing) the entire piece in one sitting was either straight up not possible or very bad for my back/sleep schedule/eyesight.

For some reason, this made it difficult for me to actually stick to my promise of posting once a week.

(This alongside other things like being afforded the privilege to travel - whenever I am traveling I feel like video editing is a "waste of time" because I could be LIVING LIFE instead!)

Without posting once a week, well, a craft can only be honed if you actually do it... Sadness and sorrow. No wonder I still feel still miles away from where I wish to be.

To be kinder to myself, I suppose starting from 0 knowledge and ending up here with this latest video is still something to be celebrated!

On that note - doing youtube has taught me to sit with and power through the frustration/discomfort I feel when faced with a new task (video editing!) at which I am not instantly extremely good at (tragedy!). I am a big fan of giving up, but in this case, I did not *cheers and applause* and I think I have gotten better at doing things that are new and difficult more generally! *more cheers and applesauce*

I want to make a commitment to post more regularly!

Bigger, bolder, italicised, underlined font for manifestation purposes.

Now that I know trying to chiong one post once a week doesn't work, I have to come up with another methodology that does...

Once a week was also probably a tad too ambitious given my other commitments so I'm going to aim for once every two weeks...

Let's climb this mountain! 😤
