Feedback from Ata Ullah – Rohingya Youth Advocate, Cox’s Bazar

I recently had the opportunity to attend the Youth Political Participation (YPP) workshop organized through RvI. As a Rohingya refugee living in a camp in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, this session was deeply meaningful and eye-opening for me.

In the camp, we often grow up without understanding what democracy truly means or how we, as young people, can play a role in shaping decisions that affect our lives. This workshop helped me learn the basic concepts of democracy, how political systems work, and most importantly, why youth participation in politics and advocacy is so important — even in displaced communities like ours.

It made me realize that our voices matter, and that change starts with awareness. I now feel more confident and inspired to educate others in my community, especially the youth, about their rights and how they can speak up for justice and equality — peacefully and effectively.

Thank you, RvI, for creating this space and opportunity for youth like me to grow and feel heard. I will carry these learnings forward through my work with the NextGen Rohingya Network, where we are empowering refugee youth to dream, lead, and stand for a better future.
