I am the project head of a service event entitled “Peace by Piece 2: Linking Bands of Mindfulness,” where we provided a safe space for students to learn, reflect, and express themselves. Our event emphasized the importance of mental health awareness through an educational talk paired with a mindful and creative loom band–making activity.

During the process of organizing the event, I struggled a lot—physically, mentally, and emotionally—since it was my first time handling an event at PUP. Securing the venue was quite difficult because we had a very limited budget and a lot of paperwork to submit to the university’s administrative offices. We had to be resourceful and flexible in securing an available date for the venue.

At one point, I was losing hope and the drive to continue the event. However, my committee members and my co-project head supported and encouraged me. They reminded me to do my best and assured me that it would be a worthwhile event, especially since it is very relevant in a time when many people are struggling with their mental health.

On the day of the event, I can confidently say that it was a very successful service project for our committee. Seeing attendees from different clubs and organizations having fun and enjoying their time together, even within a short period, made me feel relieved and genuinely happy. Knowing that I fulfilled my duties and achieved my goals made everything worth it. With that, I am truly proud of myself.
