Empowering Voices: Youth Political Participation at University of Rajshahi

On 31st August 2025, I successfully organized and conducted my Capstone Project Movers Workshop on Youth Political Participation (YPP) under the CAYA Advocacy Fellowship at the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. This was not just an ordinary workshop – it turned into a vibrant gathering of 60+ enthusiastic participants, including university teachers, youth organization founders, and passionate young members from across the community.

Highlights of the Session:

The session lasted 4 hours and was conducted in two groups by two CAYA fellows, making it highly interactive and engaging.

Every participant was actively involved-from discussions to collaborative activities. We facilitated group discussions, where participants explored challenges and opportunities for youth in politics. Each group then presented their reflections and ideas in front of everyone, sparking constructive debates and shared learning. The atmosphere was full of energy, curiosity, and determination to bring positive change through youth participation in political spaces.

Key Outcomes:

Participants gained deeper insights into the importance of youth engagement in politics.They explored practical strategies for political participation in their communities.Many participants expressed that the session inspired them to take a more proactive role in civic and political life.The presence of educators and youth leaders enriched the discussions and encouraged collaboration beyond the workshop.

Personal Reflection:

Facilitating this workshop at University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh was a truly rewarding experience. Seeing young people actively engage, share their perspectives, and propose solutions gave me confidence that youth-led initiatives can significantly contribute to democratic processes.

This was my first Capstone Project under the fellowship, and I am deeply grateful to CAYA, the Movers Programme, and my fellow facilitators for their constant support and resources that made this event impactful.

With this workshop, I feel one step closer to empowering my community and inspiring young voices to #JoinTheMovement for inclusive political participation!
