RVI Workshop – Building a Professional Identity

I recently participated in the RVI Workshop, a session dedicated to developing a professional portfolio and articulating my unique personality within a career context. I took part in this workshop to better understand how to translate my academic experiences into a narrative that resonates with industry professionals.

I began by auditng my past projects such as my work in reservoir engineering and structural mechanics to identify recurring strengths. During the "discovery" phase, we were encouraged to look at industry leaders for inspiration on how they present complex data simply. To prepare, I reflected on my journey at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, specifically focusing on how I bridge the gap between technical engineering and project coordination.

The workshop pushed me to define my Professional Personality. I identified that I am a Systems-Oriented Problem Solver with a high degree of Adaptability.

• Clear Explanation: I learned to use the "Double Diamond" design process not just for engineering, but for my own career growth—spending time in the 'Divergent' phase to explore different industries before 'Converging' on my focus in the energy sector.
• Context: By integrating my experience as an event coordinator for external university participants, I demonstrated that my technical knowledge is backed by strong soft skills like stakeholder management.
  
  

This experience taught me that a portfolio is more than a list of grades; it’s a living document of my growth. I learned to be more patient with the "branding" process. My main takeaway is that showing how I solve a problem (my process) is just as important as the final solution.
