Day 6: WORK HARD! PLAY HARDER!

This day began bright and early with a talk by Pak Hermit & Nopi respectively. They provided insightful conversations on how we could create our own impactful business. Through points highlighting the fact that we can create an impact even by providing for a smaller community such as Pak Nopi and how he began this based on a need to create more jobs and opportunities for the friends and family within his community. Using his expertise as a receptionist and identifying the need for foreigners to do laundry on their holiday. However Pak hermit also highlighted the importance being adaptable and passionate in what you are doing to enjoy it, even though he does not have the relevant experience in the field of farming and the industry of waste management as a ex journalist, however he also managed to find his own relevancy to relate back into his current industry utilising his understanding on how companies work and incorporate CSR into their businesses and also convincing them becoming their clients.

Then the Problem statement was unveiled to solve a problem faced by both Balinese and Singaporeans. This was a struggle for my group as Singapore is considered a first world country while in our few days here we have seen both sides of Bali, a place filled with tourism but is also plagued by it. Using the 17 UNSDGs as a guide we began checking down on issues faced by bith countries. Initially planning to use our idea yesterday of using LarLarBooks to educate youths and the tourists on the negative effects that tourism and waste causes to the landfill as well as highlighting on the issue of Singapore's Semakau Landfill being almost full. However after consults with Sheila we realised our idea was too surface level and was unable to tackle the problem at a deeper level especially in Singapore's context as we are only highlighting initiatives already implemented by the SG government. Afterwards we looked more into social issues such as gender inequality and reducing inequality in different underprivileged communities such as those with physical, mental or cognitive disabilties. Focusing a platform that aims to reduce the stigma of persons with disabilities and supporting them by helping them providing them income by monetising their skills to help them support themselves. As well as highlighting success stories of persons with disabilities thriving in the workforce to reduce the stigma of persons with disabilities being unable or lesser than and unable to find jobs, being discriminated against or exploited by employers and companies.

After completing our deck we also had to play hard and decided to take a nice walk along legian beach where we had fun enjoying the sea breeze while on the way to beach walk mall. Shopping and laughing while walking around with my friends :)))))) Afterwards we had the most memorable time walking back (brisk walking slightly running) back to the hotel to meet the 9pm curfew
