Participating in KAWSA’s "Claim Your Space" event was a powerful reminder that our voices carry real weight. I used to think that "safe spaces" were just places people provided for us, but now I see they are something we actively build through community and shared courage. It’s not enough to just want change; we have to show up for each other and take up the space we deserve.
The energy at the forum made it clear that the Filipino youth are ready to lead the charge against gender-based violence. We aren't just a generation that talks about problems—we are a movement that stands up for human rights and collective safety. It’s time to move past the idea that we are only the "future" of this country.
Instead of waiting for tomorrow, we are proving that our actions and our unity are already transforming society today. We are the ones defining what justice looks like in the present, showing everyone that the "pag-asa ng bayan" is actually a living, breathing force for good right here and now.
