I signed up for this workshop with the intention to learn more about how to build my portfolio, how to craft and frame it to be suitable and palatable for others to view. For context, I’m an ASRJC J1 student who is still wandering and figuring out what I want. I’m currently in the middle of the session, and I’ll say that this workshop has been much more than that!
As I filled up a worksheet on Understanding Myself, writing down Where I am (my background, personality traits, values, passions, role models, current skills) has really made me ponder about who I am. Living life day by day, passively has made me forget that I am my own self with my own personality and identity. So much so that I don’t really know who I am 😅, which is something I wouldn’t want to stay this way. To help this, I feel that living life more intentionally would be good, and thinking deeper into the things I do. Asking more why’s too. Along with being exposed to new environments too, I feel that this journey got getting to know myself will be a fulfilling one. 😽
Furthermore, the ‘Where I Want To Go’ section of the worksheet also made me ponder about what exactly I want. While I may not know the exact route I’d like to go down, or a specific destination to reach, I feel that it’s important to at least decide the grounds of what I value/like! As of now, I’d like to go somewhere that helps others. Hmmmm how so is a question I’ve yet to answer 😅
That section made me think about what I actually value in my life, and what I can see myself actually doing in the long run. It helped me think deeper about what I’m doing now too, whether it is just for momentary satisfaction, or does it help point me in the direction of something greater?
Hmmm as a summary, I’m very grateful and glad that I came to this session! It reminded me that there is so much depth in the little and big things in life, and that there is also so much depth within myself, that is worth exploring :) I was actually wandering about the topic about understanding myself recently, but I got lost figuring out where to start. 😅 This workshop provided a really good start for me to take :) Thank you RVI!
