Recently, my family and I came back from our first longggggggggg family trip in almost ten years. It was a two weeks self-driving trip in Australia and we went to Sydney, Melbourne and Tasmania. To be honest, I was very reluctant at first as I know the trip was out of what I can afford now, and I don’t have a very good impression of Australia. Nevertheless, I appreciated the family time and have a new perspective towards the country.
Throughout the trip, I was the designated chauffeur, porter, eventually becoming the chef and the nanny too. This trip was our first family trip with the three kids. Many times I had to help take care or cook for them. My parents are not young anymore too, and so is my aunt, therefore I had to manage not only the young but the old too.
As with every family trip, there’s bound to be arguments. I quarrelled with my siblings during the trip and it was pretty bad (I made her cry twice). But I think the biggest learning point for us is that with every family trip like this, there’s bound to be sacrifices. Not everyone will get to do what they want, and some will be more tired than others. It is through understanding and compromises that we can be closer as a family. No matter how badly we fight, at the end of the day we still come together as one family.
I think this was the best mother’s day we celebrated, and god blessed us with the prettiest aurora sky in 500 years. Everyday, I count my blessings for having a blissful, tight knitted, and supportive family. They are my pillar of strength that carries me through the roughest times.
Happy Mother’s Day to my beloved mother, and I wish everyone of you who chanced upon this post a blessed and blissful life.
