Dalseong Daegu Contemporary Art Festival: 3D Modelling

In June, I received a call from a friend of mine to do freelance 3D modeling work for him. It was quite a difficult thing to model and I was afraid I could not pull through as I have not done something like this for freelance work before. This was the image reference.

I was already using Rhino 3D in school and was familiar with the software. After a few hours of trying to model by myself, I ended up using Grasshopper, a plug-in within Rhino that uses code to generate forms to assist the modeling process.

I was not well versed with Grasshopper, but I managed to find solutions through YouTube and implemented the codes and tabs in my own way, for my own needs. After a few iterations, this model was created.

In addition, I got my connections and pulled another fellow friend on board to do the material texture for the fabrication of the product. I was partially managing the project to ensure that the vision of the final model was achieved.

It was an amazing experience knowing that a work that I'm a part of is displayed in Daegu as part of a contemporary art festival. A small part of me has always wanted to become a contemporary artist, thus I am really thankful for the opportunity. I hope you guys enjoy the art piece!
