Looking back, 2023 has been a year full of achievements, and I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished.

I completed my first-ever exhibition as part of my graduation show while also being the co-chairperson of the committee. Even though grades don't always show the effort you put in, I'm happy that my hard work did reflect in my grades.

Graduating from university was a big milestone for me. Looking back, 16-year-old Daryl would be proud that I stuck to my decision to go to design school, despite backing out on some opportunities along the way. The path I walked may not have been straightforward, but it brought me to where I am now.

Getting my first tattoo was a dream come true. I always wanted one, but it had to mean something to me. Year 1 Daryl would be proud that I pulled through to create a terrific Final Year Project (FYP) that I'm proud to put on my skin.

Having my first expedition with good friends was a blast. Finding like-minded individuals to do crazy things with, like climbing a random mountain in Malaysia, was a highlight.

Getting my first full-time job was a relief. I remember the fear in August 2022, wondering where I'd be in a year and if I'd even find a job. I have the necessary skills, but I lacked confidence in the job market. Fortunately, I found my happy place at RVI, doing things I set out to do for personal growth.

Spending time with family has been a priority for the past two years and will continue in 2024. Focusing on my career and family, I'm glad I took the time to travel with my family, exploring new places. Bringing my parents and aunt on their first trip to Kuala Lumpur felt amazing, knowing I have the capability and adult money now.

The first overseas trip with RVI was a big milestone for the team and for me personally. Although I've had opportunities for school exchange programs, this trip with RVI was the most significant and inspiring. I've never reflected so much on myself, my role in society, and what I could achieve for myself.

I'm thankful to everyone and myself for the impact on how my 2023 turned out. Hoping for a great 2024, I have multiple milestones I've set out to achieve.

River Valley Irregulars is a great platform for personal reflections, documenting milestones, and celebrating victories. How was 2023 for you?
