Self-Project (School Internship)

Previously, I have interned under a Production House previously during my ITE days, this has and always will be one of my proudest works, the work that has been my stepping stone into Photography and to also exposed myself to my own strengths and weaknesses.

As my internship period was coming to an end, I wanted to create something that I could be proud of, a self project that represents the many remarkable knowledge I have gained from my trainers throughout the internship. I took a step and went up to my boss to request to do a self project and she said "Go ahead."

With the skills that has been taught, I felt confident within the confine of the studio that had always held many other professional shoots, the studio was my learning playground this time around. Through the many trail and error of lighting positioning, intensity of light scources, different angles of the camera framing and even the props used, this was one of the few end product pictures I left with. (of course with final touches through Adobe Photoshop)

Concluding this project, it has made me truly understand the insights of working as a Photographer, through my own nitpicky intentions of angles and lighting setups to even the distance of the camera.On the second day of this project, I kept questioning myself "Does this lighting feel right?" "What am I trying to convey with this framing?" I took a step back to realise it was not right to be harsh on myself, knowing that I am still in the process of learning, just like every other professional in the industry.

If you were to ask me what would I do differently about this project if I was handling it now, I would say I wouldn't want to change a thing about it. The key takeaway would be the power of simplicity, which is something I stand firmly on, the simplicty of the image speaks loud about the elegance of the product.
