My Experience and Takeaways from the Movers’ Session on YPP

Attending the Movers’ Session on Youth Political Participation (YPP) was a transformative experience for me. The session created a safe space to reflect on what political participation truly means for young people in South Asia and beyond.

My biggest takeaway was that youth are not just future leaders, but present contributors to democracy. The exercises on internalized beliefs and contradictory truths pushed me to think deeply about my own assumptions and biases. I realized that political participation extends beyond voting. It also means holding leaders accountable, building civic awareness, and creating platforms for dialogue.

As I prepare for my capstone, I carry forward these lessons: that meaningful participation requires both courage and clarity, and that change begins when we invite others to step into the process with us.
