I had my first performance in Ite west for the April intakes. I have experience in malay dance in primary school, it was for awhile. I enjoy dancing and i was taking my opportunity to join this year. I join malay dance for my mom and along the way, ive grown passion for malay dance. I have been having a lot of fun in this cca and i love this team.
Before i joined Westari, i saw them perform for the January intakes. I like the way they move and how smooth their choreography is, i got inspired and it spark something in me. So i did my research on Westari and had a debate with myself. I was scared since it has been so long since i dance but my mom convinced me and supported me to get into it so i ended up giving it a try. I don't regret it, i really enjoy what i have now. It was honestly a best decision i have made for so long.
I have developed new skills along the way through learning and performing various traditional dance styles. I am able to adapt to the style and learn efficiently. I memorise the choreography efficiently and perform on stage confidently. Malay dance has also strengthened my discipline, teamwork and appreciation for cultural heritage.
I have knowledge of traditional Malay dances such as Zapin, Joget, and Inang, as well as an understanding of their cultural significance, costumes, and performance etiquette. I am happy to develop this, i wish to experience more. I didn't know i could learn quickly and made friends easily. i also learned to be more patient with myself.
