4 a.m. on a Thursday morning, I was waiting anxiously in Logan Airport, Boston. The 7-degree drizzling weather made me regret not wearing another coat. 25 hours later, I would land in Singapore, a country I had been longing to visit but knew little about.
Yes, I got an internship, a good one in Singapore. Before I tried to figure out how I actually got it, I said yes. Staying in the U.S. for a long time, I have been always thinking to be back to Asia. So here I am.
Landed in Singapore airport around 9 p.m., I was barely conscious because of the long flight. The 1/4 second when I walked out the airport, I sensed the hot waves.
It was hot, not the Mid-West summer type of hot, but the tropical humid hot.
Oh yes, that is my destination. I didn't hop on a wrong flight.
I joined Kontinentalist in the second week after I arrived. Immediately, I started working on their latest project (I probably shouldn't say too much about the project since it hasn't been published yet). The more research I do, the more I realize how little I know about Southeast Asia.
The cultures are diverse. The food is good. People are nice. I just love it here. Mosques, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, and Taoist temples are located next to each other on the same street, something you would never see in the U.S.
