Hello! My name is Ian, and I have a deep passion for sports. I’m determined to build a career that allows me not only to earn a living but also to find joy and fulfillment in what I do every day.

I first started playing rugby at the age of eight for my primary school team. My journey took an exciting turn when I was scouted by ACS Barker Road because of my potential and performance on the field. Transitioning into secondary school rugby was challenging at first the training was intense, and the level of competition was much higher. However, through dedication, perseverance, and countless hours of hard work, I gradually improved and began to gain confidence in myself and my abilities.

After graduating from ACS Barker Road, I enrolled in ITE’s Sports Management course through the EAE pathway, where I continued to pursue my passion for rugby by joining the school’s CCA. I was fortunate to be coached by individuals who were part of Singapore’s National Rugby Team. With their guidance and encouragement, I was invited to attend the U17 National Team trials. Out of approximately 160 participants, the selection was narrowed down to 24 players and I was proud to be one of them. It was a moment of disbelief and immense pride, knowing that all my hard work, discipline, and perseverance had paid off.

These experiences have not only strengthened my love for the sport of rugby but have also shaped my character. They taught me resilience, teamwork, leadership, and the importance of pushing through challenges no matter how tough things get. Moving forward, I aspire to share my knowledge and experience by coaching others, especially those who may be struggling to find their footing in the sport. I want to inspire them to believe in themselves the way I learned to believe in me to recognise their strengths, overcome their weaknesses, and grow both as athletes and as individuals.
