As a CAYA Fellowship Programme Fellow from Pakistan

The Movers Session on Youth Political Participation was a thought-provoking and empowering experience. As a fellow of the CAYA Fellowship Programme, I found the session deeply relevant to the current socio-political climate in Pakistan, where youth engagement in governance and policy-making is both urgent and necessary.

The session effectively highlighted the importance of informed and active youth involvement in democratic processes. It shed light on how political literacy among young people can act as a catalyst for national transformation. What resonated with me most was the emphasis on grassroots participation and the need for inclusive political dialogues that welcome the voices of marginalized communities.

One of the most valuable aspects of the session was the interactive format, which encouraged us to reflect on our personal political journeys, biases, and the barriers we face as youth trying to participate in politics. It also introduced practical strategies for mobilizing peers, advocating for change, and understanding institutional frameworks.

This session has reinforced my belief that youth are not only future leaders — we are present changemakers. As a CAYA Fellow, I am inspired to take forward this momentum by initiating political awareness campaigns, engaging in civic education, and contributing to a more democratic, inclusive Pakistan.
