Although I was not able to attend through Microsoft Teams or Zoom, that did not stop me from participating in this meaningful summit. I still joined by watching through Facebook Live, listening carefully, and taking notes from the important discussion about RA 11313, also known as the Safe Spaces Act or βBawal Bastos Law.β It reminded me that learning can still happen even through different platforms when you are eager to participate.
RA 11313 is a law that protects everyoneβwomen, men, and LGBTQIA+ individualsβfrom gender-based sexual harassment. It covers schools, workplaces, public spaces, transportation, and even online platforms where many cases also happen today. This law proves that every person deserves to feel safe, respected, and protected wherever they are.
One of my biggest takeaways is the importance of spreading awareness so more people will understand their rights and responsibilities. Respect should always be given regardless of gender identity, expression, or background. Let us continue to claim our spaces and build a community where everyone feels valued, heard, and safe.
