Apple held its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5th, 2023. During the event, Apple announced the release of the Apple Vision Pro headset. The headset is designed to blend digital content into the space around you and allows you to interact with digital content using your eyes, hands, and voice.
Apple Vision Pro is a new headset that was announced at WWDC 2023. The headset is designed to completely immerse users in the digital world. Here are some of the features and benefits of the Apple Vision Pro:
- Apple Immersive Video: This feature allows for 180-degree high-resolution recordings with Spatial Audio, transforming any space into a personal movie theatre.
- Gaming: The Vision Pro opens new avenues in gaming, enabling games that span a spectrum of immersion.
- visionOS: The headset runs visionOS which has a similar iOS-like interface to some of the apps you know and love. Users will be able to pinch their thumb and index finger together to perform an action without holding anything. It offers XR versions of Safari, Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, Freeform, Photos, and more apps.
- Ultra-high-resolution display system: Vision Pro features an ultra-high-resolution display system with 23 million pixels across two micro-OLED displays – more than a 4K for TV for each eye.
- High-speed cameras: Vision Pro uses high-speed cameras that track your eye movements and adjust the display accordingly.
- Optic ID: Vision Pro uses Optic ID to identify users. This system analyzes the uniqueness of your iris, which is distinct, even with identical twins to instantly unlock Vision Pro, similar to how Face ID works for your whole face on iPhone.
- Free your desktop: With Vision Pro, you have an infinite canvas that transforms how you use the apps you love. Arrange apps anywhere and scale them to the perfect size, making the workspace of your dreams a reality — all while staying present in the world around you.
- FaceTime becomes spatial: Apple Vision Pro allows FaceTime calls to take advantage of the room around the user, with everyone on the call reflected in life-size tiles. During a FaceTime call, users wearing Vision Pro are reflected as a Persona, which reflects face and hand movements in real time. Users can do things together like watch a movie, browse photos, or collaborate on a presentation
