House Olympus Facilitator

House Olympus. An annual event held in Anderson Serangoon Junior College, also better known as ASRJC. House Olympus is a school-based event which encourages individuals from different houses (Athena, Poseidon, Artemis and Helios) to compete with each other to earn points and emerge victory.

As much I would love to be a participant of such an event, I have chosen a path which would be much more fulfilling - a facilitator. As a facilitator, I was able to safeguard individuals’ safety as the game I was facilitating was known to be dangerous and vulnerable to injuries, Captains Ball. My other teammate and I worked collaboratively to ensure that the games played were non-biased and engaging throughout the 1 to 2 hours. As a facilitator, I was also able to ensure that the logistics were all accounted for to avoid hiccups and mishaps during the games.

From several participants, they have commented how the games they played were much more entertaining and light-hearted as they seen themselves showcase a better and healthier version of themselves, whilst being mindful of each others’ safety.

In conclusion, a challenge for me would be the large-scale responsibility I have as taking care of different groups and about a fraction of the whole school was a first. However, my teammate and I had faith in each other and we conquered that obstacle with ease and confidence. House Olympus. One may say it is the survival of the fittest, while I deem House Olympus as the survival of the holistic. This event has strengthened my ability to effectively communicate with other individuals who are in the same team as me to get the message across and work towards a common goal in unison.
