Day 3 Journal

Over the past 3 days, i've heard many stories. Wan and his emotional stories about pulau ubin, its history and its sad state that it is in right now, feeling restricted and oppressed by the ever growing government. I can tell that the stories was close to his heart as he is a direct descendant of the Orang Pulau. I also heard stories from Firdaus about Orang laut and had almost similar "ending". The worst part is that even as a resident in Singapore, I have never learned or even heard about stories like these, not in school, social media, or ever. Seeing as everyone around me is involved in something big, amazing, and impacts the world, it inspired me to push myself and do something. I want to work with Wan and Orang Laut SG and hopefully help them share their stories to more audience and get more students to be aware of it. My plan is, as a member of the Student Council in ITE College West, I can have my Student Councillors or even just generally ITE West hear about these stories, whether it be by a tour or simply a talk. Maybe in the future I can build up from here and start to help people be able to voice out their stories and reach a bigger audience. This is only the start of the journey.
