What i learned today in our Day 1 session mentorship for NASA—Demystifying the NASA Space Apps Challenge:

I learned from our guest speakers, who are also my seniors in BS Computer Engineering, that the process can be difficult, tiring, and full of tinkering, but we have to commit to what we started and embrace the changes we make to reach where we want to be.

From Kuya Al-Raffy and his team’s experience, I learned that even when things seem hopeless, we should never stop looking for hope because sometimes, it is simply waiting to be found even in the midst of hopelessness.

I also learned a lot from Sir Joel about the opportunities he opened before us, such as the River Valley Irregulars, a localized Southeast Asian experiential learning and community platform focused on empowering youth and unconventional doers, somewhat similar to LinkedIn but more centered on young people and experiential learning.

The last thing I want to highlight is how this Day 1 session opened doors to many opportunities that I can grab in the future, as well as the many wisdom and lessons I received from the speakers that not only encouraged me more to keep up the good work and just try my best but also reminded me that I am not working alone.

After all, no man is an island, and if we truly want to make the world a better place, we can start by influencing and empowering the future.
