My Key Learnings from conducting Movers Workshop on Youth Political Participation

On 7th and 11th August, 2025 I facilitated the CAYA Movers Workshop on Youth Political Participation with my co-fellow at Brighton English School, Ahmedabad. Across two offline sessions, we engaged with around 105 students from Grades 10, 11, and 12.

What struck me most is that young people are not disengaged—they are often unheard. The moment they were given space, students connected politics to their lived realities—rising fees, safety concerns, discrimination, and opportunities. Their reflections reminded me that participation is not only about voting or protesting; it’s also about everyday acts of courage—asking questions, organizing, and amplifying collective voice.

The sessions deepened my belief that youth are not just the future, they are the present. They are already questioning, shaping, and imagining new possibilities. Our responsibility is to nurture this energy with awareness, agency, and accountability, and to move from classrooms of passive learning towards communities of active citizenship.
