Hackathon Participation

I took part in the Republic Of Singapore Navy Hackathon as a Project for the Immersive Applications And Games Course that I am currently studying in.

On the 1st day of Hackathon we were brought to the Navy Museum to explore around and gain information on what Navy Soldiers go through each day and what they do as a daily routine. We were also brought on the Navy Battleship to have insight on how a Navy Soldier would go about while sailing and how the inside of a Battleship looks like.

On the 2nd day of Hackathon we were brought to Temasek Polytechnic to compete in the Hackathon and we were tasked to come up with a Game Concept revolving around the Navy. We stayed at Temasek Polytechnic from 9am - 9pm brainstorming for concepts and ideas that could make our game more creative and unique and may benefit the Navy Soldiers.

There were obviously many setbacks as we have to discuss about the concept of the game and sometimes we would have to scrap everything and come up with more creative ideas but overall it was a fun experience as I managed to learn more about the life of a Navy Soldier which felt interesting and I get to compete in this Hackathon together with my friends. The Hackathon gave me a sense of resilience as we could have given up halfway but we persevered and push forward until the end
