The Start:
I am a very self-isolated individual, quiet, and scared of being judged. However, during my secondary school days, I joined the National Cadet Corps because I was inspired by my brother to become a better individual and a better leader. After handing over the baton to the next batch of leaders, I felt stuck; I felt that I would not have a clear pathway into my young adult life.
I arrived at ITE mostly disoriented and confused, even after orientation. At the CCA fair, I walked around to see which CCA would suit me. I then thought about my orientation group leaders, seeing how they welcomed us to ITE, guided us into ITE life and showed us what we could do to make our time here worthwhile.
Inspired by them, I thought I should be a part of the community to bridge others who are as confused and unsure as me to bridge the transition into ITE and welcome them with open arms; hence, I applied to join Bridge Leaders.
The Interview
During the interview, it was very nerve-wracking. I was really out of my comfort zone, being next to many others wanting to do the same. The first question asked was what my objective was in Bridge Leaders. I wanted to bridge the transition from secondary school to ITE, as I understand ITE life would be a huge change of environment. I wanted to welcome them as warmly as possible, ensuring they enjoy their time with their new classmates.
After the interview, the wait was killing me. I was so nervous I didn't do well in the interview. After a quick check, I managed to get in! I jumped around with joy, and I was super relieved I managed to get in.
