i’m so grateful to have been accepted into the RVI family!!1! for this month’s FFN i was no longer just a participant but RVI’s trusty video content creator intern!!! ^^
before I was officially part of the team, I attended my very first Friday Fries Night some time in April by invitation of a friend (SHOUTOUT @). and like many first-timers, i had absolutely no idea what to expect coming down for Human Library. i didn’t know what a “human library” was tbh i thought it was a fancy way of describing a standard lecture with powerpoint slides.
BUT I WAS SO PLEASANTLY SURPRISED AT HOW FUN AND WELCOMING THE EVENT WAS!!!
i love that i was given a library card and asked to “pick the books i want to read”! and having that up close and personal experience talking to the fantastic “books” was such a nice breath of fresh air ^^ their successes and struggles felt more real, and the opportunity to ask questions or joke together really made for a more enjoyable conversation.
i believe FFN’s Human Library is the best introduction to the essence of River Valley Irregulars. everyone on the team has this shared desire to support youths still finding their footing in life, and it really shines in this event. having “irregular” people share their stories with pride really opened my mind up to forge my own path, that it’s okay to want to try something different no matter how daunting the journey.
if you’re looking to find community, reassurance or even advice, you can bet RVI’s got your back >:) we’ve got many exciting things planned (especially on our IG on Youth Day wink wink nudge pubs plug) for everyone to look forward to and i’ll be documenting my journey here because i love to yap!!
THANKS AGAIN RVI <333
