The Band Experience

A band, what is it? it is an ensemble of musicians working collaboratively to produce and perform structured compositions. Unlike solo artists, bands rely on the interaction of multiple performers, each contributing to the overall sound. Joining a band and playing has been quite the experience for me, and I wanted to share my experience here. Hence the title, The Band Experience

Earlier this year, I decided to pick up an Instrument, The bass guitar. I didn't expect to go far however, until I found out about ITE College East's acoustic pop band CCA, East Dynamics, I saw their showcase for my intake, seeing them play and enjoying the music was what convinced me to join the CCA, and, thankfully, I managed to join by passing the auditions set in place by the CCA for potential members who are interested in joining. I met my soon to be Bandmates shortly after I started attending. It took me a while, but I opened up to them, and we all became quick friends, and it was then that they decided to invite me into their band to be their bassist.

Now, after a few months, I realized what it was like actually being in a band after going through a few jam sessions and playing for an audience. There are a few things I realized I needed in order to stay, but the main things were commitment & consistency. I learned that I didn't have to be the best musician in the room, what's important is that you're the person who shows up every time and is willing to put in the effort for everyone else. It made me realize that showing up to jam/practice, and learning the songs properly was more important than my skill level. (This Project is not finished)
