I worked a fair share of part-time jobs from secondary school to my ITE days, including intern and starting a full-time job as an 18-year-old fresh graduand made me realize I've not taken my teenage era for granted.
I'm proud of where I am now and I would not change my destiny if I had the chance. However, I do miss spending more time with my friends and family compared to today. When it comes to finding the right time to hang out, there's always schedule clashing and even so needing to return home early to have a good night's rest for work tomorrow.
There are moments at work that made me miss school a lot. Goofing around in class & talking about anything and everything during class is one of the main reasons why I sometimes miss working with people my age. Despite this, I've learned to embrace having my own company and keep people who are understanding & aligns with my values into my life.
Fortunately, I am more mentally prepared on paying my own bills and booking my own health check-ups from time to time and having adult money means having money to spend on the things you like, which unfortunately turned into an addiction that seemed impossible to turn over a new leaf for.
In a way, shopping is my coping mechanism whether good or bad news was gifted to me in which the feeling of FOMO (fear of missing out) & impulsive thoughts drove right through my frontal lobe. Honestly, my progression to cope with this addiction is very slow but I'm looking forward to getting past this obstacle of mine through counselling and being disciplined.
There's a known fact that our frontal lobes will fully develop by the age of 25. I may have made a fair share of good and bad decisions but I'm learning to accept my own mistakes and take accountability to develop myself :)
