My Leadership Experience!

Back when I was in secondary school, I was part of the AV (Audio Visual) Team to help play the Singapore National Anthem every 7:30 am. I was also a Sports Leader where I helped with Sports Day events by setting up at school.

After graduating from secondary school, I went into ITE and joined the Peer Support Leader and Student Council in 2024 as a member. I then went for Student Council EXCO Trainings, that lead me to be part of the Student Council EXCO as Projects Deputy Chairman from the start of 2025 to the end of 2025!

I wanted to continue to build my leadership and learn new skill sets in ITE. That's when I decided to join the Student Council to learn and help with community work events, and any school-related events that would need me to help around, such as the Graduation Day Ceremony, where they needed ushers or to escort any VIP guests. The CCA has also helped me in learning project-related work on how I can create project slide presentations and design presentation slides. Student Council in ITE West has helped me to not only step out of my comfort zone from being an introvert to an extrovert, but it has also helped me build friendships with the friends I still cherish and love to this day.

What I have done as a Project Deputy Chairman was to plan the Student Council Camp and Championship Leadership Clubs Sports day. From my Student Council Role, I have experience in itinerary planning, logistics and F&B arrangements, including communicating with vendors and companies for materials and catering. To me I really enjoy organising and planning events, especially handling the different parts behind the scenes to ensure everything runs smoothly. I also enjoy taking on challenges and finding solutions when unexpected situations happen during events.

Personally I feel that Student Council changed me for the better. It gave me opportunities to step out of my comfort zone, take on responsibilities and become more confident in myself and my abilities. I am considering joining a leadership club when I enter polytechnic next year!
