The GEP programme is an overseas excursion to another country for industrial exposure as well as expanding our range and knowledge on the related industries at the country we are visiting.

So there was a showcase after lecture period and they were showing the lists of locations of where our cohort are able to choose for to sign up for the GEP trip programme. There was Hangzhou in China , Bangkok in Thailand, , Phanm Penh in Cambodia and Penang in Malaysia to choose from. Each respective countries has their own itineraries and purposes We were given three options when signing up the form and the first option was the priority. The requirements needed to be eligible is a minimum required GPA as well as good conduct. Fortunately, I passed both requirements so I was excited to be able to sign up for this programme. All I had to do was to just sign up my information and the information that needed to be filled out in the form and waited for the results on whether I had been selected or not. In the end, I was able to be selected for my first choice selection which was Bangkok, Thailand!.

A skill that I gained throughout this trip was Problem Solving, the local regulatory compliance of food in Thailand the processing techniques that come from each companies I visited from respective industries.

A challenge I faced was definitely the cultural practices and as well as communication factors as we have different cultural practices and accents when talking. The other challenge was definitely the knowledge being presented as I still lack the full comprehensive knowledge and understanding due to me still being in the learning process.

My thoughts about this programme is that I definitely get the benefit of such overseas trip excursions and widening my perspective and views on how every industries have an impact towards society one way or another.
