FEEDBACK FOR REEDLEY MINI-MUN

I was accepted for AYIMUN 18th last May 2025. However, I had to decline due to financial and personal reasons. It remains one of my biggest "what ifs" because speaking up and representing a country has always been my dream—I aspire to become a diplomat. Back in Grade 11, I often imagined how different my life would have been if I had been able to join, knowing how much knowledge and opportunity come with that experience.

After our recognition ceremony, I promised myself that I would finally pursue the things I really want to do, and becoming a delegate was at the top of my list. Then, a post suddenly appeared on my Facebook feed: Reedleys was hosting a free MUN conference. It was going to be held in Pasig, and I was hesitant to apply at first. Since I live in the province, I wasn't sure if my parents would agree to let me travel alone to Manila. Still, I applied. I didn't expect to be accepted because I knew there were so many other young applicants, but I got in! I was so happy and told myself, "This is it—I’m going to grab this opportunity."

When the WhatsApp group was created, I joined and met many friendly people. I used to think that highly intelligent people were often quiet or distant on social media, but I was wrong. Everyone was so welcoming, and I later found out that many of us were actually first-time participants. The night before the event, though, I started having doubts. I felt scared and wondered if I was actually capable of doing this. I felt like I didn't know anything or what to expect. My heart was pounding, and I couldn't sleep.

The next morning, I woke up early, feeling a mix of nervousness and excitement. During the conference, I was truly impressed by how well everyone spoke and how prepared they were. Being surrounded by people like that was amazing—they inspired me to be more confident and true to myself. However, before lunch, I faced a lot of difficulties. I struggled so much with my internet connection that I couldn't stay in the meeting. I tried connecting to different hotspots and doing everything I could, but it just wasn't my day. Fortunately, I managed to rejoin right before the awarding ceremony, even though the program was almost over. It was a bittersweet feeling.

When the awards were announced, I knew that the winners truly deserved them. YOU ARE ALL A GOAT. They were the best of the conference, and I admire them so much. I am very thankful to Sir Jose and Ma'am Lavinia for guiding us through this incredible journey. I also want to thank Ma'am Elaisa, who answered all my questions the night before—your experience in MUN is truly impressive. This experience would not have been possible without you, our council, and all the organizers. And to my fellow delegates, I appreciate and admire you all. Until the next MUN! 🥹❤️
