From Tokyo with Purpose: RVI’s Partnership with Japan Youth Council

We have some exciting news to share from Tokyo! Our co-founder, Sheila, recently attended the Democracy Youth Summit, and while there, we officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Japan Youth Council! This new partnership marks an important step in our mission to connect and empower youth across the region. As an invited speaker on the Gender Equality panel, she also served as the main facilitator, skillfully bringing together diverse voices and perspectives from fellow speakers across different countries.

The summit was an incredible experience, and we are bringing back some huge takeaways. Beyond the meetings and speeches, our biggest lesson was seeing how powerful youth voices are when they are given a platform to speak and be heard. The conversations with Japanese students were especially inspiring, reminding us that democracy and positive change are built on real people and real, human dialogue.

During her time in Japan, Sheila found it to be a space where youth from around the world came together to exchange bold ideas and imagine a better future. She took away three key insights: that real impact is more important than big stages, that care and empathy are the true infrastructure of a community, and that a green economy is fundamentally a youth economy.
