I went for a hospital attachment programme at the Singapore General Hospital where I got to help treat patients as well as observe the environment at the hospital where I got to learn about the jobs of the different healthcare professionals. It was a very enlightening experience where I learnt many new skills like how urinary catheterisation is done as well as brush up my current ones like doing wound dressing as seen in the picture. I also found this very enjoyable as I liked to help treat patients and help them recover. I also had a group who worked together and helped one another during moments where we needed help and healthcare professionals who guided us along the way. I made many meaningful connections there thanks to this. Moreover, I got to realise that the healthcare industry is very demanding both physically and emotionally which also deepened my respect for them. Overall, it was an unforgettable experience where I learnt many new skills and knowledge where I got to forge meaningful relationships.
