During my internship at High Notes, I developed and enhanced both technical and soft skills. On the technical side, I learned how to set up and manage sound systems, balance instruments and vocals using EQ and troubleshoot issues under pressure like buzzing speakers or faulty cables. I remember multiple events where there was last minute buzzing from the speakers which enabled me to remain calm under pressure and solve it quickly. I also gained experience performing basic equipment maintenance, checking mixers, cables and extensions. In terms of soft skills, I improved my communication by speaking up clearly and coordinating with musicians and crew. I also strengthened my teamwork skills during fast-paced live events, more adaptable to last-minute changes and problem-solving abilities. These skills were very important as they allowed me to handle unpredictable live events confidently. Thus, I gained more confidence in my abilities, learned to stay calm under pressure and became more aware of my strengths and areas I need to improve, especially in communication under stressful situations.
