Hey Irregulars! So recently I attended the latest FFN session and man it was a BANGER!!! Honestly it felt so good to just meet with so many inspiring and passionate individuals and it really pumped me up and reignited my motivation to start on my own personal projects. The books I listened to that day were Aβbidah and Wendy.
Learning about how the entertainment journalism industry works through Aβbidah was so interesting - apparently journalists are only given about 5 minutes to ask all their questions to celebrities. To create an article afterwards with those short interviews really boggles my mind. Hearing her deal with burnouts and critique for her works really hit home for me as an artist and I am so grateful she shared her struggles with us. Just hearing Aβbidah sharing her experiences made me feel seen as a queer artist and motivates me to forge my own path going forward.

Wendyβs path to becoming a co-founder of a UI/UX company was something very personal to me too. Just like me, Wendy came from an animation studies background in polytechnic but changed her career path to do design related work later in her life. What she went through reminded me of my own path, how I am currently taking a new direction in my life to go towards design and marketing in my career - which is quite a shift from animation. And to see Wendyβs approach in her company where she values the importance of empathy and how it is the principle of her work, especially treating her employees with so much care and compassion was very heartening to see.
Whenever there is an FFN, it always ends with a bang, especially with Open Mic, where we get to see so many other βHuman Librariesβ share about their milestones - like finding new opportunities and sharing stories of their growth. Really this entire session just reminded me what it means to be a youth, especially reflecting the βIrregularβ spirit of RVI. :D
Hope to see you at the next FFN Irregulars!
