The Duality of Potatoes

Potatoes are strong

For a starchy, piece of poo looking root, their surprisingly good at growing and flourishing in almost anywhere. I mean, they even made their way to MARS (ok that was a book but you get my point, TS built like a ROCK)

And at the same time, potatoes are really weak

In the 18th century, potatoes experienced what is basically mass genocide when a disease called “Late Blight” infected the local potato population in Ireland. We lost millions of our Spuddy brethren during those 7 cruel years.

In a lot of ways, humanity mirrors the potato.

We find ways to survive, even in the harshest conditions. We fall sick, but we grow stronger from it. We die when put in boiling water.

Yet the one difference between a person and a potato, is that while we judge potatoes based on what’s on the inside, we judge people based on what’s on the outside.

We aren’t like potatoes. In fact we’re pretty different from potatoes. But just because we can eat them, doesn’t mean we can’t learn from them.

Maybe being a couch potato isn’t so bad after all.
