At KIKAY Kilos + Lakbay, resilience is more than a word we casually attach to every storm we survive. As Filipinos, we often hear that we are resilient. We smile through hardships, rebuild after disasters, and move forward no matter how strong the winds are. But last year, when we volunteered at the Philippine Red Cross Headquarters to pack relief goods for families affected by typhoons, resilience took on a deeper and more personal meaning.
It is about turning empathy into action. It is about choosing to help rebuild lives, even in small but meaningful ways.
We often celebrate resilience as the ability to bounce back. But perhaps it’s time to redefine it.
Resilience is community.
Resilience is compassion.
Resilience is volunteerism.
