I participated in a Student Leader Forum last year where I worked with various people from different backgrounds to create games and activities for a public event outdoors. The games were directed towards the elderly people of Singapore and encouraged them to work with each other in certain games.
Working with the other students and other teachers helped me to enhance my communication skills as well as my teamwork. The student leader forum was a big part of my journey and I wish to go back to it as it was a really fun and enriching experience. The people I met during the few months of planning and making the games were all incredibly kind and welcoming, it felt like we were all together as one and it also reminded me what being a 'Leader' really is.
Being a leader is not just about telling people what to do and how to do it, it's about telling people what to do and showing them how to do it. To be there through the process and help them as much as they help you. To guide others and help them grow to become better. That is what I believe a leader is.
