sewing for noobs

another nlb hand-on workshop, this time it's a sewing session!

i learnt how to make a simple tote bag using a Brother A80 sewing machine. i can confidently say that this session really tested my patience as i encountered a number of difficulties including rethreading the machine 3 times, lagging behind everyone, needing to ask for help on every single step. i was a disaster but nonetheless, i successfully made the bag!

pre-cut fabrics, tools and sewing machine were all provided during this session and it was really a beginner's guide to piecing together a sewing pattern, sewing in a straight line, setting up and understanding the sewing machine, cutting/trimming excess fabrics and playing around with the stitch settings.

pictured is the final bag and some of the stitch settings i played around with. it isn't perfect, but at least i can say i made it myself yay! this is really your sign to start that hobby you've always wanted to try, even if the end results aren't perfect.
