In the first introductory session of CAYA Advocacy fellowship on RVI portfolio building I get to know valuable points and lessons. As someone formulating and digging the intersection of youth advocacy, health, and development, I’ve often focused so much on the work itself that I overlooked pr rather ignored the importance of documenting the powerful journey. This session reminded me that our impact is not just measured by what we do but by how we communicate it and how we document it.

In my own sphere of learning, this session offered powerful insights on:

How to frame our story as turning raw and natural experiences into structured, purpose-driven narratives.
Power of Highlighting and focusing not only on activities but also outcomes and learnings
Standing with authenticity as letting my values, intentions, and lived experience shine through

One of the most meaningful takeaways for me was the idea that portfolios are not just resumes but they are reflections of growth, passion, and potential. Whether it’s a blog, visual timeline, or even a social media feed, a strong portfolio helps amplify your voice and open doors for collaboration and leadership opportunities.

Moving forward, I’m trained to start building my personal advocacy portfolio by bringing together my volunteering work health-related projects, and youth-centered initiatives like the CAYA Advocacy Fellowship.

This session didn’t just teach me about portfolios. It taught me how to honor my own journey and present it in a way that can inspire others.
