As I had a task to perform or a session to conduct in my own region , which is filled with conservativity and religious traditions. I would describe my experience very briefly.
The location I chose was the main reason of my reaching out to my community and it led me to two impressions or feelings. Firstly I was filled with hope, joy and excitement as I conducted my session with mostly female sitting there and their attention to the new facts and active participation really impressed me as they were hearing the topic "Youth Political Participation" for the first time to be elaborated to them by someone. They had me on the edge when I was trying to explain the "ladder of participation" and they already knew that how youth are being manipulated and decorated but as someone first time someone explaining to them to they just realized it now and they agreed with me for the first time. As the second impression which is really agonizing thing, I noticed that there was their lack of interest and knowledge of democracy or active political participation as they presented a very genuine reasons when it comes to our area or region i.e. family limitation, religious principles in their own terms . I found out it extremely disturbing as they were even unaware about the democracy or the pillars of governance / society. My own takeaways are very clear that I need to work with them and let them motivate to take part in political scenarios. One session will not have a big impact until I have to conduct two or three sessions with them which will allow them to recognize their own potential. I hope with the support of international community I will be able to bring a positive change in a society which is being surrounded by extremism , women empowerment issues and religious principles misinterpretation.
