Whenever sharks are featured in documentaries, articles, or news stories, most people instantly picture Great Whites, Hammerheads, or Whale Sharks. But what about the hundreds of species that are niche?

This reflection highlights the true diversity of the shark world by focusing on lesser-known, unique, and deeply misunderstood sharks, such as the Goblin Shark, Angel Shark, and Pyjama Shark. Across our oceans, there are over 500 species of sharks, ranging from the size of a human hand to the length of a bus.

From my research, a shark species that deeply fascinates me is the Wobbegong Shark. It is a remarkable marine creature with intricate camouflage patterns, a stunning color palette, and a completely unexpected appearance compared to typical open-ocean predators.

A key area I want to expand on in my research is shark biology and anatomy. Besides learning about different shark species, I want to understand how their bodies work. From their specialized jaws to their sensory systems.

There is so much to learn about our marine life that are filled with wonders and mysteries, which makes learning about them more exciting.
