Today we started by visiting a coffee plantation, where we learnt how different tea and coffee is produced, the one that caught my attention the most was the civet cat's feces turned into coffee powder and beans, I did not know that things of such opposites can be turned into each other under the right circumstances, it made me realise that my business model does not have to revolve around in the box thinking, rather I can delve into the science and trial and error to create a brand new invention.
Next, we went to do rice plantation, at first we had a talk that taught us how an NGO was able to survive and the tactics they use as a business, I learnt many things from it, such as how solutions are not that straight cut, like the plastic eating worm, as it is an invasive species. Next during the activity, I think i benefitted a lot from it, since me and my team members went through the thought process of creating the collaboration plan and justification, which actually worked out for LarLar Books, seeing how it suceeded has taught me that though this may be a quick 1 week expedition out to Bali, there are still opportunities that can come very unexpectedly, since we thought it was just an activity to get us to work our minds, but it ended up in an actual collaboration.
Next, we went to actually try planting rice ourselves, we started off by spreading composte, to do that, half of us had to traverse the uneven terrains up top, which was terrifying, especially since someone actually fell down to the bottom. Though fun, I cannot imagine doing this on a daily basis for long hours. This made me realize that we should be grateful for what we have, as others must endure struggles where we thrive.
