Trip to A*STAR@Fusionopolis

On 15 October, some members of my CCA, STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Club, got a chance to visit the A*STAR(Agency for Science, Technology and Research) research institutes. I was one of the lucky few who managed to go for the trip.
In the institute, we learned deeper into the topic of Superposition in physics. They provided us with a diffraction grating, which splits light into its constituent colours and frequencies. This program was very interesting to me as I got to learn more about how Superposition is applicable in real life, such as using the diffraction gratings to identify the types of light emitted(such as LED, Incandescent, and halogen light). It showed me how Physics reveals many wonders of the world that would otherwise not have been noticed by our naked eyes. It also elicits many provoking thoughts that leave me with deeper questions and wonder of my surroundings.
We were led on a guided tour around the institute, which allowed us to experience all the different laboratories and what they do. This tour sparked my interest in quantum physics, among other physics aspects. Through this experience, I gained more knowledge of what A*STAR does and how they are leading the charge for quantum physics in Singapore.
