My part time job

In secondary 2, in order to get an experience of what the working life was like, I signed up for a part time job during the December holidays at a fast food restaurant.

When I started this job, everything was confusing, with new normals and protocols to follow and strictly adhere to, and I even had to attend a lesson on food safety to get a certification. This was a huge barrier for me to overcome as I was the youngest person there and never had to deal with the strict protocols of an actual job and understand about consequences should it be breached.

When the job started, it was tiring, having to be prepared to serve customers during the peak hours and taking orders from the register, making it a challenge to keep up with the crowd.

However, as the days passed, I slowly adapted to the this new experience. I learnt important life skills like being adaptable and being patient especially when helping out with customer orders

Overall, this experience was eye opening allowing me to broaden my horizons. I was really thankful for this opportunity and also glad I was able to spend my holiday time wisely.
